Dr. Etienne Stoupy is currently the third trumpet with the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra , a feelance artist and a clinician in Lake Charles Louisiana. Until August 2015, Dr. Stoupy was the Adjunct Professor of trumpet at Texas Woman’s University, where he was teaching undergraduate and graduate trumpet students as well as directing the Brass Ensemble.

 

 

Prior to his appointment at Texas Woman’s University, Dr. Stoupy hold the position of Visiting Assistant Professor of Music at Texas Woman’s University and was the director of the Pioneer Pep Band, Wind Symphony and Jazz Orchestra.  Dr. Stoupy also taught undergraduate and graduate instrumental conducting classes as well as music appreciation. From 2010 to 2012 Dr. Stoupy worked as High Brass adjunct instructor at the University of Texas at Tyler where he taught graduate and undergraduate Trumpet and French horn, as well as chamber music and brass methods.

 

 

As an active performer and clinician, Dr. Stoupy performed as guest soloist with many universities throughout the U.S.  He was featured as guest clinician and soloist with the internationally renown Magnifica Brass Quintet during his Texas tour at Texas Christian University, Texas Woman’s University, University of North Texas and at the 2012 Texas Music Education Association in San Antonio. Recently, Dr. Stoupy was a clinician along with Dr. Winter at the 2016 Colorado Music Educator Association in Colorado Springs.

 

 

Dr. Etienne Stoupy is a native of France where he completed his undergraduate studies in trumpet performance at the Conservatoire National de Lyon.  He came to the United States in 2005 to pursue his Masters degree as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Memphis where he studied trumpet with Dr. David Spencer. As a doctoral candidate at the University of North Texas, he obtained a Teaching Fellowship while studying under Professor Keith Johnson.

 

 

As an orchestra player Dr. Stoupy had opportunities to perform internationally in France, Mexico, and the United States in various professional ensembles such as the Dallas Opera Orchestra, Lone Star Wind Symphony, Lake Charles Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra of New Spain, Texarkana Symphony Orchestra, Orquestra Sinfonica de la U.A.N.L (Mexico), Orchestre Symphonique de Lyon (France) and Orchestre du Festival de Lamalou les Bains (France).

 

 

Dr. Stoupy is a member of the International Trumpet Guild, College Music Society, American Federation of Musicians and the Texas Music Educator Association.
